THURSDAY JANUARY 20TH AT 7.30PM WITH EMMA MURPHY

Emma invites you to sing or play two madrigal gems: “Due Rose Fresche” by Andrea Gabrieli and “As Vesta was from Latmos Hill descending” by Thomas Weelkes. Explore word-painting and phrasing as led by Emma, as you play along on recorders, viols or renaissance wind, or sing if you like.

SUNDAY MARCH 20TH AT 7.30PM WITH PAMELA FLANAGAN AND PHILIP THORBY

A double bill!
First, to mark the 450th anniversary of his birth, Pamela will give a talk called “These distracted times: a survey of the life and works of Thomas Tomkins (1572-1656) and the society in which he lived”.
Then Philip will lead a practical session on how and when to decorate 16th century music with divisions, drawing on his idol (alter-ego?) Sylvestro di Ganassi dal Fontego.

FRIDAY MAY 20TH AT 7.30PM WITH IBI AZIZ

Meet the time-travelling, age-defying 16th century viol virtuoso Martin Jacobus Delamouche through his journal, recounting his experiences amongst the different echelons of music life in Europe.

WEDNESDAY JULY 20TH AT 7.30PM – ALL THE TUTORS

A sort of “Desert Island Discs”. Marion, Emma, Pamela, Ibi and Philip each introduce a recording of a favourite work, and explain why it means so much to them.

SATURDAY AUGUST 20TH AT 7.30PM – MARION DOHERTY-HAYDEN IN PERSON!

Countdown over, we will be live in An Grianan and Marion will conduct the first session of IRVC 50. Our half-century celebrations will be underway.
